In the book I’m currently working on, Curated Collection’s new shop assistant sells an item that Jacy and Neena consider “the unsellable doodad.” How did this come to end up in a book? Well, it went something like this. My brother-in-law and niece came for a visit and as we always do, we took them to our favorite antiques mall (it’s located in Fairfield, Maine). While there, I ran across…well, let’s just call it a bottle. Here are a couple of photos.
As you can see, it is some sort of clown/dog hybrid with drum-shaped cups hanging from the sides. I probably should have bought it because it’s just that unusual, but I didn’t.
We spend a bit of time wandering through antique stores, which is why it seemed natural for Jacy to want to sell them along with other second-hand items. What is funny, however, is that whenever we go out, I end up finding at least one head.
Yes, I said head. In some cases, it’s a bust, but not always. Here are a few examples.
The Elvis head was one of two that I saw the same day, but I can’t find the picture of the second one. Those also ended up in the book, by the way.
Such fun!
