Book 17 in the Haunted Everly After series is out, and this one took some turns I didn’t see coming when I started writing it. Halloween Mourning has Everly right in the middle of Mooselick River’s annual Halloween festival — which is the kind of organized chaos she’s learned to expect, until one of the festival attractions becomes a crime scene.

The dead woman is part of a coven that’s been hiding in plain sight for years. She’s also not ready to leave. And Sheriff Ernie Polk has locked onto the most obvious explanation, which means Everly has some untangling to do before he closes a case that isn’t actually solved.

This is a Halloween book, obviously, but it’s more about what people conceal than what they put on display — which felt right for this story.

Ghost Writer (Book 3 in the Haunted Everly After series) is now on Audible and other retailers in audio format.

This is one of my favorites from the early books. Everly ends up with two murder victims — and two ghosts — at the same time, and the mystery has more layers than it first shows you. There’s also a friendship that complicates things in ways I found genuinely interesting to write.

If you prefer to listen, this is a good place to start with the series on audio. Though as always — Ghost Mortem first if you’re brand new to Everly.
